December Roundup
Happy Holidays from RMS!

As the winter break approaches, we want to send a heartfelt message to all our wonderful families. We hope this message finds you well and helps you prepare for a restful and joyous two-week holiday period.

Please remember that tomorrow, Friday, December 19th, is an early release day for all students. We will be dismissing students promptly at 12:30 PM. This early dismissal marks the official start of the winter holiday break for our students and staff.

We sincerely appreciate your efforts in arranging transportation for your child at this special time. Please ensure they know the plan for getting home safely at 12:30 PM.

We know how busy the holidays can be, so here are a few key dates and important reminders to keep handy:
Holiday Break Period: The break officially begins Friday, December 19th, at 12:30 PM and continues through Monday, January 5th.

First Day Back to School: We are thrilled to welcome all students back on Tuesday, January 6th! We look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready to learn.

Athletics Start Date - Monday, January 5th: While students are not in class, the first day of practices for our winter sports will begin on Monday, January 5th.

This is an important date for students interested in participating:
7th and 8th Grade Boys Basketball; Practices officially begin on Monday, January 5th.
Girls Wrestling: Practices officially begin on Monday, January 5th.

Crucial Reminder for Athletes: Please ensure that all necessary paperwork, including a current physical examination form, is turned into the school office or athletic director before the first practice on January 5th. Students cannot participate until all documentation is complete and on file.

We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication shown by our students thus far this school year and we encourage everyone to use this break to relax, reconnect with family and friends, and enjoy the season. This has been one of the most positive behavior timeframes at RMS to date and that is a huge accomplishment that ALL our staff, students and families should be celebrating and be very proud of! It takes ALL of us being on the same page to ensure student success and we are seeing this in real time!

From all of us at RMS, we wish you and your family a safe, peaceful, and wonderful Winter Break! We can't wait to see you all next year!

Happy Holidays and Go Colts!

Rawlins Middle School has kicked off a new Homeroom challenge called the Christmas Light Bulb Challenge to support the local toy drive at Mike’s Big City. Each homeroom class is working together to gather donations by “selling” paper light bulbs. All money collected will be used to buy toys for the drive. The homeroom that raises the most will take a special trip to shop for the toys. Donation levels for light bulbs are: $1 – red bulb $5 – orange bulb $10 – yellow bulb $15 – green bulb $20 – blue bulb $100 – gold star Each purchased bulb will include the name of a loved one and will be displayed in the hallways to help fill our school with holiday cheer. Students received donation slips from their homeroom teachers to bring home. If you would like to participate, please send cash or a check (made out to Rawlins Middle School) with your student. Even small contributions make a big difference, and the $1 option makes it easy for everyone to join in and honor a loved one in our hallways. Thank you for supporting our students and helping us make this project meaningful and fun. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school!
