My Resources

Books are an important resource :-)

http://www.lexile.com is a website for finding a good book your child will enjoy based on age and lexile scores. MAP testing and PAWS give Lexile scores or you can call me and I'll give you the score to help.  I like to start here and then go to the public or school libraries to find the books of interest.

If they are reading alone, it is important for students who struggle with reading to find books that are at their independent level.  If a book is too hard to read, they will not enjoy it and will give up easily.  The more they read, the better they become.

www.vocabjourney.com - They use the ID and password they use at school for this.  It works on vocabulary from LA !  (It also counts as homework credit)

Free Apps for cell phones

  • Vocabulary HD
  • Vocabulary Builder Middle School Vocabulary
  • There are many more.  E-mail me if you find a cool free App to add to my list!
