Hello, my name is Rob Tillotson and I am the 7th Grade Special Education Teacher and Assistant Spring Track & Field Coach here at Rawlins Middle School. This is my 4th year working in Special Education for the Carbon County School District and my 1st year as an Assistant Coach.
Previously, before moving to Rawlins, I lived in Rye, New York, a small suburban city about 45 minutes outside of New York City. I am a graduate of Rye High School, and a two-time former state qualifier and competitor in both the NYS Cross Country and Spring Track & Field meets, where I competed in the 5K cross country event and 2000 meter steeplechase.
I also attended Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY for my undergraduate degree in Marketing and Management. I was recruited and became a part of Manhattan College's Cross Country and Track & Field Division 1 team. In my 4 years at Manhattan College, I became a big part of an after-school program devoted to students in grades K-6. This brought me to the conclusion of wanting to teach students after graduating from Manhattan College with my BA degree.
Upon graduating from Manhattan College, and knowing I wanted to further my education and become a teacher, I went to work for 3 years in the health care industry to allow me to afford to pursue a dual Masters degree in Elementary and Special Education from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. I worked at another after school program to help underprivileged students in a Title 1 district in Port Chester, NY. Once I had completed my dual masters degree, I left New York to take my first teaching job as a 6th grade Special Education teacher at Rawlins Middle School.
In my free time, I like to be outdoors. I enjoy camping, hiking, and fishing. I am a member of the Elks Lodge in Rawlins, WY and enjoy spending quality time with friends and loved ones.
This is my 4th year at RMS and I have loved every minute of it! I have two sisters, one younger and one older. My younger sister lives in New York with her husband, Ryan. My older sister lives in Florida with her husband Stewart and my niece, Elise. My father is retired and currently living in Rye, NY. He spends his time being involved in book clubs and attending performances in the local area and NYC.
