Robert Tillotson

Special Education Teacher 7th Grade

Hello, my name is Rob Tillotson and I am the ELA Special Education Teacher.  I am also the Assistant Cross Country HS & MS coach, along with the Assistant Spring Track & Field Coach here at Rawlins Middle School.  This is my 7th year working in Special Education for the Carbon County School District and my 3rd year as an Assistant Coach in Cross Country and my 4th years as an Assistant Coach in Track & Field.

Previously, before moving to Rawlins, I lived in Rye, New York, a small suburban city about 45 minutes outside of New York City.  I am a graduate of Rye High School, and a three-time former state qualifier and competitor in both the NYS Cross Country, Winter and Spring Track & Field meets, where I competed in the 5K cross country event, 3200 meter run and the 2000 meter steeplechase.

I also attended Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY for my undergraduate degree in Marketing and Management.  I was recruited and ran for Manhattan College's Cross Country and Track & Field Division I team.  In my 4 years at Manhattan College, I became a big part of an after-school program devoted to students in grades K-6. This brought me to the conclusion of wanting to teach students after graduating from Manhattan College with my BA degree.

Upon graduating from Manhattan College, and knowing I wanted to further my education and become a teacher, I went to work for 3 years in the health care industry to allow me to afford to pursue a dual Masters degree in Elementary and Special Education from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY.  I worked at another after school program to help underprivileged students in a Title 1 district in Port Chester, NY.  Once I had completed my dual masters degree, I left New York and  moved 2,000 miles away to take my first teaching job as a Special Education teacher at Rawlins Middle School.

In my free time, I like to be outdoors. I enjoy camping, hiking, and fishing. I also love to listen to all different types of music and am an avid movie fan.  I am a member of the Elks Lodge #609 in Rawlins, WY and enjoy spending quality time with friends and loved ones.  I also love the New York Jets and playing fantasy football!  I am married to my beautiful wife, Jenni, and we just recently bought a house back in January of 2019 here in Rawlins!

This is my 7th year at RMS and I have loved every minute of it!  I have two sisters, one younger and one older.  My younger sister lives in New York with her husband, Ryan. My older sister lives in Florida with her husband Stewart and my niece, Elise. My father is retired and currently living in Rye, NY. He spends his time being involved in book clubs and attending performances in the local area and NYC.

As a teacher and coach at Rawlins Middle School, I hope to provide your student with a great (and fun) educational experience!  I look forward to working with your son or daughter.
